Concert: Chamber Orchestra Kremlin

I’ve been away from the music hall for a while and this semester I really make an effort to get back to those concerts and really get in some live music. I’ve really missed going to these concerts and tonight’s concert really emphasized that.

The Chamber Orchestra Kremlin put on a concert at Wattenbarger that was absolutely wonderful! They performed music by Rossini, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Bach, and a few encores. At the start of the program the Rossini was absolutely beautiful. The technique of the first violinists caught my attention very quickly and the blending and precision of their sound was so pure I would have believed such music was not possible. The whole program was that way except for the Bach Concert (for Two Violins).

The soloists for the Bach Concerto showed such energy and passion that the rest of the orchestra (especially during the second movement) really seemed to pale. In fact, during the second movement the accompanying orchestra did not seem to add to the soloists, but rather seemed more stale, as if a recording were playing the accompaniment. Still, the absolute passion exhibited made what could possible be termed as mistakes make you second-guess.

This was one night I wish I had not forgotten my camera. Next on their tour is Campbellsville, KY on Feb. 19th, then Danville, KY on the 22nd and so on. If they come to your area, go see them!
