Concert in the Park

About a week ago, the Bryan Symphony Orchestra hosted a free concert in the park. The concert started at 7:30 pm in Dogwood Park.
I have made a conscious effort to try and attend more concerts this season at Tech and what better way to do this than attend BSO’s annual concert in the park? I love these concerts. The park has recently undergone a lot of renovation and has exploded in size. Built a few years ago, it was a tiny grassy area in the middle of town with the country library on the other side of trees and abruptly ending in a massive parking lot that was in need of great repair and served as a lot for a night club.

They tore down the night club and adjoining buildings and replaced the parking lot with lots of grass. The city says the park still has a lot of work to do, but at least they’ve now built a proper amphitheater.

The concert itself was pretty good. They performed several popular pieces including a piece from Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones. A lot more people showed up than I would have expected. The theater was nearly full. Overall, I feel the concert was a success.
